Runs of 40
Most of the edit is made in runs of forty or fewer. That is small enough for a person to touch every piece and large enough for the workshop to make a living from it.
Small runs mean variation. A glaze line dipped by hand sits a few millimetres higher on one bottle than the next. A wood-ash glaze comes out of the kiln grey-green on one jar and near black on its neighbour. Blown glass has seeds in it and a rim that is never quite level.
Every product page says which of these to expect, so you can tell the difference between what the material does and what a fault looks like. The fault we replace. The variation is why you are buying it here rather than from a factory.
A crack, a chip, a glaze that has crawled off the body, a lamp that does not switch on, a bowl that will not sit flat. Photograph it and email us; we replace it and pay the postage both ways.

Each page says what differs between pieces and what would be a fault. You know before it arrives.
