Questions

Anything not covered here goes to studio@thestylemusei.com. The reply comes from someone who has held the object.

Choosing a piece

Material, workshop and year: what the object is made of, the town where it was made, and when the design was first produced. The product page adds the batch size and the dimensions. The workshops page describes each town.

Small (14 cm) for one or two stems on a desk or bedside. Medium (22 cm) for a small bunch on a table. Large (32 cm) for branches and tall grasses on the floor or a sideboard. When in doubt, go one size down; the objects are heavier and more present than a photograph suggests.

E14 is the small screw fitting, E27 the standard one. Both lamps ship with a 4 W LED in the fitting you choose. E14 gives a slightly softer, more even light; E27 is a little brighter and easier to find bulbs for. Neither is wrong.

Not before it ships, because pieces are picked from the run as orders come in. What we can do is send photographs of the current run so you can see the spread of variation. Email with the object number.

No. They are the studio's own and not part of the edit.

Materials & variation

Close, but not identical. Every product page has a line saying what varies: glaze line height, ash-glaze colour, seeds in glass, walnut colour, veining in marble. If it varies in one of the ways listed, that is the object as intended. If it varies in a way not listed, tell us.

Variation is what the material and the method do: a glaze pooling darker at the centre, a rim that is not quite level on blown glass, a fleck in quarter-sawn oak. A fault is a crack, a chip, a glaze that has crawled off the body, a lamp that does not work or a bowl that rocks. Faults are replaced without discussion.

Lacquer looks perfect for a year, then scratches, and a scratch in lacquer cannot be repaired. Oil can be renewed at home for as long as the object lasts. It means you have to re-oil twice a year, and the care page shows how.

No. It is unlacquered, so it tarnishes to a soft brown over about a year. Polish it in a minute if you want the shine back, or leave it. Both are fine.

The pressed water glasses and the ribbed tumblers, yes, on a glass cycle. The free-blown pieces — the carafe, the fluted pair — are hand wash only. None of the glass is tempered, so nothing hot goes in any of it.

No, and we say so before you buy. A replacement will be the same object in the same colourway, but reactive and ash glazes come out differently on every piece. If matching matters, buy the set size you want at the start.

The breakage cover

If an object breaks in ordinary domestic use within 5 years of delivery, we replace it once and pay the shipping. Drops, knocks, thermal cracks and lamps that stop working are all in. The full table lists what is not.

No. A photograph and your order reference by email is all we need. Recycle the pieces.

It is still covered. The care notes exist to help the object last, not to give us a way out. The cover is one replacement per object, though, so the second time it is on you.

Yes. It follows the object, not the buyer. The recipient needs the order reference or your name and the approximate date.

No. It is in addition. Faults in materials or workmanship are handled under the two-year statutory conformity period whatever the cover says, and nothing here shortens your 14-day right of withdrawal.

Orders & shipping

Each piece in moulded paper pulp, then in a box, then that box in a second box with paper cushioning. No foam, no bubble wrap. It is slower to pack, which is why dispatch takes up to two working days, and almost nothing arrives broken.

Within two working days of the order. Glass and stone sometimes take the second day because of the packing. Tracking arrives by email when the label is printed.

From Copenhagen, to the EU, the UK, Switzerland and Norway. Times and costs are on the shipping page. Outside the EU, duties and local VAT are charged by the carrier on delivery.

Photograph it in the box before unpacking further and email us. We replace it and you do not send anything back. Transit breakage does not use up the breakage cover.

30 days from delivery, unused and in its packaging, for any reason. Return postage is yours unless the item was faulty or we sent the wrong thing. Lamps must be unused; a lamp that has been wired in cannot be resold as new.
