The same oak as the serving board, cut wider and shorter with one rounded corner and a cord, because a board that hangs gets used more than a board that lives in a cupboard. Oiled, not lacquered.
Oak has visible medullary rays, the pale flecks across the grain in the photograph. They are a feature of quarter-sawn oak and not a defect.
